Tips For Barre Chords On Guitar

Many of the beginners would be struggling to hold the barre chords on guitar and to change them. So here are few tips to increase the hold power on barre chords.

  1. First of all you have to be sure that your finger positioning is correct and for that check out this photo below:
In the photo above the chord shown is A-minor(Barre) number's 1, 2 , 3 and 4 are representing the Index, Middle, Fore-finger and the pinky finger respectively. Hold the D and G string on 7th fret using fingers 3 and 4 and B string on 6th fret using finger 2 and barre the 5th fret using the index finger.

2.   Start from A-minor because its easier to hold since gap between frets is smaller.

3.   So after holding the strings, pick each of the string and check the sound, it must sound nice, crisp and clean.

4.   After holding the strings properly, choose a strumming pattern, for example D U D U D U and strum 20 times.

5.   Don't switch to the next chord until and unless you don't hear clear sound of each of the 20 strums.

6.   The good thing about learning barre chords is that, once you'll master one of the barre chords, perfecting others will not take much of the extra efforts since, the finger positioning is exactly similar, you just have to slide your hand up and down.

So follow these steps and I can bet that within 15 days, with 15-20 minutes sessions twice or thrice in a day, you'll master the chords as I did and will be ready to show-off.

So rock on!
